Namastey London

First, the pre-movie events:

Show: Sunday 25th, March 2007, 6 to 9…. movie released on 23rd March. Stood in line for 1 hour and managed to get tickets of the third row from the front!

Venue: Gaiety theatre, Bandra.

Special events: To our utter surprise, the actor himself Akshay Kumar was present at the theatre to promote the movie. That was an amazing experience listening to him and looking at him. Paisa Vasool ( Rs. 45 only) even before the movie started!

So then after the ever-inspiring National Anthem the movie started. The start of the movie is beautiful in which the gorgeous Katrina Kaif is being escorted by Akshay Kumar to the church for her wedding with a British hero!

Then, the movie goes into flashback…Katrina Kaif, born and brought up in London, a person who hates Indians and proudly tries to call herself British. A typical phirangi girl, who does all things which Indian girls cannot even think of doing…. like drinking, etc.

She wants to marry a British person and falls in love with a British rich guy, who comes from the royal family and is closely associated to Prince Charles. This guy has married thrice before but none of his relationships survived. This guy has also fallen in love with Katrina.

But, as a typical Indian Baap, Rishi Kapoor, starts disliking his daughter’s habits and wants to somehow prevent her from getting married to that guy. Meanwhile Upen Patel, a close friend of Katrina and Rishi Kapoor’s friend’s son, is thrown out of his home because he gets engaged in a live-in relationship with a British girl.

So, finally Rishi Kapoor takes Katrina to India and tries to find an Indian boy for her. Lots of comedy and finally the entry of Akshay Kumar. Rishi starts liking Akshay and forces Katrina to marry her and then they go to London.

Now the twist, Katrina denies accepting the marriage as soon as she reaches there saying that there is no legal proof of it. So then, Akshay decides to win her by loving her for whatever she does instead of hating her. So then lots of events occur which bring Akshay and Katrina closer. The events are beautiful like a rugby match and a confrontation with a relative of east-India company director who tries to criticize India in which Katrina supports Akshay.

So, finally, as in most Hindi movies, the hero wins the battle and Katrina finally on the right track. Meanwhile, Upen Patel bhi sudhar jaata hai…..

So, as per my perspective, a beautiful movie that has a perfect blend of emotion, comedy, values, Indian culture and entertainment. Kudos to Vipul Shah as he captures the attention of the viewers for the whole of 2 ½ hours and there is hardly any moments of boredom in the movie. The timely one-liners of Akshay, as usual, are nice. I would recommend this movie to a person who likes emotional and culture oriented movie.
